Stories That Need To Be Told

The world is full of stories that need to be told. Stories that we shy away from. Stories that make us uncomfortable or challenge our world view. We’ve partnered with NOOR photographers to bring those stories to light.

When we see a powerful visual story we can no longer avoid it. We can’t unsee the human suffering or the climate change or the need for a more sustainable approach. And when we can’t ignore it, we’re compelled to act. That’s why these are the stories that need to be told.

NINA BERMAN – ‘WHEN FOOD BECOMES COMPETITION’

“I hope the pictures reveal something deeper about societies that are rich enough to use food this way – and what it means to stuff oneself, not just with food, but with consumer goods – since consumption is praised in our culture, but is also doing us in.”

ANDREA BRUCE – ‘AN UNCOMFORTABLE WORD: SANITATION’

“Sanitation and open defecation, of course, are sensitive topics. They’re things most people don't want to talk about, let alone let someone document them. And this is the reason the problem is so big. No one talks about it.”

YURI KOZYREV – ‘ABOUT THE EUROPEAN MASS MIGRATION CRISIS’

“By reporting on the refugee crisis, journalists are helping to give migrants an identity. We’re helping to remove the perception that the crowds are an ‘unnamed threat’ reaching European shores.”

FRANCESCO ZIZOLA – ‘AS IF WE WERE TUNA’

“With ‘As If We Were Tuna’ I wanted to design a narrative path that offers a complex vision of the ancient and sustainable method of fishing tuna. I am interested in suggesting a metaphor of the eternal conflict between man and nature – a reflection on the hubris of men.”
