To ensure accessibility on Nikon website, we have implemented the following practices:

  • Including accessibility as a standard part of our design, development and quality assurance processes
  • Ensuring that all new digital updates and launches meet recognized accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 Level AA)
  • Continuously reviewing and improving Jotun's digital services and make sure accessibility is part of both current updates and future development plans.

The website has been developed with the intention of ensuring functional compatibility with a broad spectrum of contemporary web browsers and assistive technologies.

Nikon website already offers the following options to make the user experience accessible:

  • Use of semantic HTML structure with defined heading hierarchy
  • Navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software
  • Listen to most of the website using a screen reader
  • Visible focus indicators for interactive elements
  • Appropriate use of ARIA attributes where necessary
  • Colour contrast designed to meet WCAG AA thresholds
  • Text alternatives for non-text content
  • Responsive layout with support for text resizing up to 200% and reflow at high zoom levels
  • Accessible form validation with associated error messaging

Areas of Improvement

Based on feedback from expert accessibility audits, we have identified opportunities to further enhance our websites accessibility. We are currently focused on improving following issues:

  • Removal of empty heading elements on certain content pages
  • Correction of heading hierarchy inconsistencies on content-managed pages
  • Further optimization of screen reader announcements to improve clarity and navigation efficiency
  • Enhancements to ARIA live region handling for dynamic components
  • Improvements to focus management and announcements during dynamic content updates
  • Some image alternative texts do not describe the image accurately

We understand the value of these improvements and have established a plan to implement them, ensuring a more accessible experience for all users.
