Olga Kravets

Along with being a documentary photographer and filmmaker, Olga is also co-founder of Mutin[R]y, a French feminist multimedia production company. Educated as a journalist, Olga came across photography whilst searching for an alternative artform that allowed her to express herself. Instantly feeling at ease when she picked up a camera and started shooting, she recalls how her career began with a strong focus on still photography before experimenting in filmmaking – a discipline she fell in “love with at first sight”.
Little did I know that being robbed whilst covering the Russo-Georgian War in 2008 would be the beginning of my Nikon journey. Borrowing a friend’s Nikon D80 and AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR lens to continue working saved me, as the region was so cut off there was no way of getting any new kit. I had to learn how to use it overnight and I can still remember the feeling of all the buttons as we got better acquainted – it was so intuitive!
 
 
After being impressed by the D80 I knew I needed to continue exploring everything Nikon had to offer. I still feel this way when new products are launched! Now, I currently use the Z 7II, which gives me the freedom to shoot the way I want to. I love how it lets me shoot in square format, something I had to abandon when getting film developed. It also allows me to shoot square RAW, just how I like, and more so need, it as it’s what is most natural to my eye.
 
I couldn’t be happier having my Nikon gear with me, wherever I am in the world.
