Carolyn Mendelsohn is an artist and portrait photographer based in the UK. While Carolyn comes from a family of very keen photographers, she originally started out as an actor, director, and film maker - drawn to the power and magic of story, performance and moving image. Later down the line, Carolyn decided to curtail her creative adventures in order to spend more time with her growing family.
I am very curious about people and their stories, which is a perfect combination for me as a portrait photographer - allowing me to translate them in a powerful and visual way.
I have been a Nikon photographer for 17 years. I didn’t choose my first camera; I was given a Nikon D70 as a present from my partner – so I like to think that Nikon chose me. Nikon is the brand I have crafted my photography career with, and ultimately, the brand that still feels the best in my hands - right from my very first D70 to my superb Z 8. I have always felt loyal to Nikon, and truly admire their forward-thinking nature, and the way they continually strive to embrace diversity in both people and practice.
