Opodo Reflections and Nikon reveal new trends in travel photography
Thursday September 7, 2006
The Feb launch of Opodo Reflections, in association with Nikon, to celebrate and reward budding photographers has brought to light some beautiful travel images from all over the world. Proof that more and more everyday holidaymakers are turning their hands to professional photography with the help of today’s digital camera technology.
On the back of this, a recent survey of customers from the Opodo database* has revealed some significant and exciting changes in today’s travel photography trends…
Broaden your horizons…
The survey shows that digital photography has revolutionised our attitude to taking photos, with 54% of people agreeing it has improved their photography skills because it allows them to take more pictures without worrying about wastage. People are also keen to explore new ways of sharing their photographs with over 40% choosing to upload holiday snaps to online albums to share with friends.
Say hello to sharing your photos with the world…
It is clear that the number of photography enthusiasts is growing as we take more frequent breaks. Travel today is about going on adventures, so people are increasingly looking for new and exciting ways to showcase them. It seems that today’s photographers are not shy, either; 52% frequently invite people to view their images and 31% are happy to share them with the world, be it online or via competitions.
…and enter the Opodo Reflections photographic competition
Opodo Reflections is a joint partnership with Nikon to celebrate everyday travel photography. Visit www.opodo.co.uk to enter your travel photographs and be in with a chance to win a variety of prizes each month, including a new Nikon S5 digital compact camera, worth £200. All entrants will also get 30 photos printed for free (£1.50 p+p), and there will be £10 flight e-vouchers for entrants who have a photo displayed in the gallery. Additionally, everyone who enters goes into the draw to win a City break for 2 and weekend photography course with i-to-i. The grand prize draw takes place at the end of the year, when one lucky winner will receive a professional Nikon digital camera, a trip to the Nikon training school and an exotic holiday for two.
Go on, we know there’s a budding photographer in there just waiting to be exposed…
