One program does it all
Introducing NX Studio, a new image-processing suite designed for viewing, processing and editing images captured with Nikon digital cameras*. Compatible with both Mac and Windows-based computers, NX Studio integrates the image viewing features of ViewNX-i and processing/editing features of Capture NX-D into one significant piece of software – and it’s free to download!
* Including all Z series mirrorless, DSLR, COOLPIX, Nikon 1 and KeyMission
Up-to-date with the latest Nikon camera information for RAW .NEF and .NRW image files, NX Studio enables you to work with the purest image data without interpretations or alterations of file information. This guarantees you will always get the best out of your .NEF or .NRW files, all the while having access to Picture Control, White Balance, Exposure, Active D-lighting, Noise Reduction features. In addition, editing options for formats such as JPEG and TIFF are supported.
Smarter browsing
Having an intelligent and intuitive image browser is key, particularly when you have growing numbers of photos and videos to sort through. NX Studio is just this - it’s designed to help you save time and work smarter. The software streamlines your browsing workflow with a range of views for thumbnails, metadata, location data side-by-side comparisons and full screen images.
Edit everything in one place
Enjoy full-scale editing, with a user-friendly interface that will be instantly recognisable to Nikon camera users. From cropping or straightening an image to making further enhancements like retouching images, you’ll find the tools you need in NX Studio. This includes applying corrections, adjusting Picture Controls or adjusting colours and exposure in portions of the image.
By popular demand, NX Studio also includes a feature inherited from Capture NX D and Capture NX 2. Colour Control Points makes it easy to apply image processing only to colours in a selected range in an image. Using this tool you can quickly and easily adjust brightness, saturation, hue or contrast only to the chosen radius and to objects of similar colour in the selected area.
A familiar interface
The menu structure has been optimised for simplicity and features the same terms used in Nikon camera menus. Items are grouped logically for ease of use and palettes can be customised to create your own workspaces.
Movie editor built-in
Video editing has never been easier with Movie Editor, accessible via an Edit Video icon. The tool allows you to trim unwanted segments from your movie footage, add background music, splice together multiple clips into one video and create impressive slide shows that include both still images and videos.
Lightness. Chroma. Hue. Precisely defined by you
Brighten a blue sky or increase the saturation of specific flowers in a field, without adding a colour cast to neutral colours. A new feature unique to NX Studio, the LCH Tool, enables you to fine-tune lightness, chroma, and hue channels for a specified colour within an image or the overall image—it’s now up to you what you create!
Fits into the Nikon ecosystem
Work in collaboration with an array of other Nikon software, including, Picture Control Utility 2, Camera Control Pro 2 and more.
Ready to post
Once you’re ready to post to social media, NX Studio offers a direct connection to upload to Nikon Image Space. With a rapid, highly convenient user interface and simple operation flow, you can upload/download, browse and organize pictures and movies, as well as share on your favourite social networks, smoothly and simply.
Organise. Label. Review.
NX Studio’s convenient set of organising and labelling tools means you can simplify the review process. Combine images that were shot in RAW and JPEG formats or view them individually, turn on or off image info or the histogram, and rotate, label or rate images individually or as a group – it’s all at your fingertips. You can even see an overlay of the focus points on any image shot with a Nikon camera.
Metadata. Your way.
If you utilise XMP/IPTC information, NX Studio will let you edit info or use presets built-into the program.
Set the workflow
An entirely new feature, NX Studio allows you to select from two different formats for saving your final post-editing data. For a non-destructive option that maintains the original RAW data choose the Sidecar File, which creates an accompanying adjustment file. Alternatively, to write the final data directly to the original RAW (.NEF/.NRW) file, choose Original File.
