Aims
This course is designed to help you become more confident in the use of your camera helping you realise more of its full potential. This is an ideal introduction to modern digital SLR photography.
Content
This half day course is packed with information and tips to help you benefit from the advanced technologies in Nikon's DSLR's.

On the day you will find out more about the key dial and menu settings, inlcuding how and when to use Digi Vari-Programs - pre-set modes to make creative photography easier. These include:
  • P (programmed auto) - for snapshots and quick shots. Ideal for times when you want to concentrate on capturing the moment, knowing that your camera will do all the work to get you a great shot.
  • S (shutter priority) - for freezing or blurring movement. You choose the shutter speed to give you the result you're after and your DSLR will select the appropriate aperture to ensure optimum exposure.
  • A (aperture priority) - for making the background sharp or out of focus. This enables you to create depth of field - ideal for capturing all the details in sweeping landscapes, or a shallower depth of field to concentrate attention on your subject by throwing a distracting background out of focus.

You'll also find out more about:
  • Flash - using the built-in pop-up flash or Nikon Speedlight flashguns to get more light on your subject or for creative lighting techniques.
  • Exposure - controlling metering and exposure compensation, including Nikon's exclusive Active D-Lighting, to make sure your shot is properly exposed (not too dark or too bright) right across the frame.
  • Composition - how to frame and take better shots every time.
